An off-Broadway play got a terrible review from the New York Times theater critic — usually signaling the death of the production.

But the smart theater publicist fought back. He sent out a press release saying, “Even the New York Times Makes Mistakes!”

The offer: Anyone who found a typo in the New York Times and sent it in would get a free ticket to the play.

Sales picked up and the production continued successfully.
